Solveig-Angelique to Solveig Keshavjee – the full story.

I met Solveig in 1993…wait…it was actually earlier than that…destiny if you will…it was a chance meeting in 1991, but set in stone for what would be a magical life together through music and family. Many will extol their wives/husbands virtues, but I say this with all humility that Solveig deserves every ounce of it and more. I am not a book writer, but I do write from my heart, and in my own way, with our daughters, continue the brilliant legacy that Solveig has created though love and song.

As we have such an amazing long history together, I will post one part at a time so as to ensure I capture everything, not just for me, my family, friends, and fans of Solveig but also for my future family, like grandchildren that Solveig would love so dearly…

Solveig will be never forgotten, always remembered and eternally in our hearts.

Solveig: Band tour story

In loving memory of Solveig Z. Keshavjee, 1963 - 2019 (Solveig Zarah Angelique Maria Keshavjee)
In loving memory of Solveig Z. Keshavjee, 1963 – 2019 (Solveig Zarah Angelique Maria Keshavjee)

Solveig was always gentle and loving in every way, she cared about all the members of the band and could be found helping load and offload gear – she was a team player through and through, whether it was ‘Visions in the Sky’, ‘The AK/SK Project’, ‘Comfortably Numb – Canada’s Pink Floyd Show’ or any music project, she was simply all about teamwork.

Solveig was also a total pro when it came to live performance and what was needed to make the shows work. As co-founder and co-band leader on all our projects, she didn’t let anyone slack or veer off their ‘game’ in any way shape or form – including me, husband or not 🙂

I remember on one tour we were playing near Niagara (US side) and I was sick with the flu and complained all the way down like a big baby. Solveig being such an amazing wife and so kind went to get meds and helped me try to feel better. She always knew what to say and was so caring and stayed by my side the entire time to help me get well.

I then said to Solveig in the afternoon before soundcheck, (I still wasn’t feeling good), “I am not going to sing these songs tonight, my throat is too sore”, Solveig calmly and sternly said, “Azim my love, you ARE going to sing those songs, the audience have paid and we are NOT going to let them down because of a cold…so yes, you WILL sing them!” Solveig then not wanting my voice to get damaged showed me techniques that she used to help her when she had a sore throat, and examples of how to get around things vocally so as to still have a great performance. I followed her teaching to the letter, listening intently and because of that I was able to perform – she was right – as always!

Solveig taught me so much and I know she always said that I did that for her too – when it came to being a team, it was ‘Solveig and Azim’, all the way….I miss my beloved Solveig so much, she is always in my heart, every minute, every second and every breath – everything I have learned from her is still with me and always will be, not just music but in life as well.
